The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of OBSIDIAN, ensuring the firm’s financial operations are managed with precision and creativity. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, with the ability to manage complex financial processes, as well as the mindset of a forward-thinking entrepreneur who can design and execute creative solutions for financial efficiency and growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis to management. • Oversee and manage the firm’s margin accounts, ensuring proper tracking, reconciliation, and optimisation. • Manage the firm’s tax fund, ensuring full compliance with regulatory obligations while optimising tax efficiency. • Supervise the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company policies. Ensure robust internal controls are in place to safeguard the firm’s assets and maintain financial integrity. Audit & Compliance • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit queries. • Ensure all statutory, tax, and regulatory filings are up-to-date and compliant with Nigerian financial regulations. • Maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and other key external partners. Strategic Financial Planning • Partner with leadership to design and implement financial strategies that align with OBSIDIAN’s growth objectives. • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue enhancement through creative financial structuring. • Design and implement innovative funding models and financial management processes to support strategic initiatives.
